We are looking for a talented Fuel Systems Plant Materials Leader to join our team specializing in Supply Chain Planning for our Components Business Segment in Columbus, IN/ or you home office.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Lead efforts within one or more Supply Chain functions including materials, production, inventory, logistics, demand management and order fulfillment. Ensures internal and external customers' expectations and requirements are met from end to end in each of the supply chains.

  • Manage daily operations across functions to ensure a dependable and efficient supply chain.

  • Lead continuous improvement projects that align with Cummins Operating System and Functional Excellence direction and leverage common processes tools, and information systems.

  • Support Corporate Supply Chain initiatives and lead the cross Business Unit planning processes to ensure intra-company alignment.

  • Mitigate long term supplier constraints by collaborating with functional stakeholders.

  • Create common supply chain processes and procedures by establishing collaborative business partner relationships.

  • Approach daily problem solving and continuous improvement opportunities strategically and tactically to achieve performance targets.

  • Develop, understand and improve necessary Key Performance Indicators.

  • Analyze operational trends and develop corrective action plans.

  • Address supply chain failures promptly to ensure operations stability; escalate as appropriate.

  • Prepare and manage an annual operating plan including expense resources, and capital.

  • Manage, coach, and develop staff; work with employees to set goals in training and development, performance, and career planning.

  • Inventory Management and Optimization - Uses analytics and algorithms to determine the optimal level of inventory investment across the end-to-end supply chain within specific constraints (warehouse space, customer delivery, etc.); provides guidance and expertise on planning parameter refinement; develops inventory strategies to support Cummins' strategy and not just a business unit strategy.

  • Materials KPI Management - Operates in relation to recent or historical outputs as compared to expectations of the organization to determine next steps to drive improvement; assesses gaps to the supply chain performance against the expectation of achieving target deliverables; interprets KPIs to understand end-customer impact; strategically balances trade-offs to influence one KPI while minimizing the impact to others.

  • ​Materials Planning Parameters - Aligns parameters (minimum order quantity, multiple order quantity, lead time, part cost, etc.) to balance the supply and demand plans while stabilizing the supply chain; runs changes to parameter settings in the planning environment and analyzes the impact to customer delivery and inventory.

  • Supply Chain Knowledge - Influences, with the ability to concisely explain and/or elaborate on, the multi-disciplined and end-to-end integration of the flow of information, products, and services to achieve the desired result for the end customer within the first-fit or aftermarket business segments while balancing the tensions of inventory, cost, and delivery.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

  • B.S or BA in applicable field, MBA preferred

  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

Significant level of relevant work experience required.

  • Please be aware this position is an ONSITE position, and the candidate will need to be within working distance of Columbus,IN.

  • Leads Materials function implementation of receiving, storing and delivery of new materials for the FSP site

  • Work closely with the Operations team to drive favorable schedule attainment and work closely with Finance and Operations team to keep inventory and internal scrap favorable to AOP target

  • Lead daily meetings with Materials team regarding status on KPI's (schedule attainment, premium freight, customer scorecard, supplier scorecard, and inventory status) and ability to adjust schedule to attend key meetings and reviews for function.

  • Oversee process flow for outside services required for internal process (3 outside service providers – Nitrix, NCT, and IBC).

  • Lead the Materials Function through compliance audits such as IATF or Internal Audits.

  • Develop a business partnership with the Union representatives. Address union concerns, attend/participate in union partnership meetings. Understand contracts.

  • Lead Materials Function VPI support.

  • Responsible for managing inventory at IDRC (new Cummins distribution center).

  • Train team on key functional tools (PBI, Oracle, etc.).

  • Prior experience with high part proliferation a plus: FSC has 8,360 active part numbers (includes buy and make). Some part numbers are not utilized frequently ramping up usage of them when needed is added complexity.

  • If not already acquired, acquire APICS-CSCP certification within 1st yr.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range is $100,000-150,000.00. Pay rate will commensurate with experience. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.
