Team Leader - Meter Assets
Administers the Meter Assets Department policies and procedures consistent with labor contracts and other Company commitments, rules, and regulations in area of responsibility. Coordinates and supervises the installation of new metering equipment. Coordinates regional metering related issues with regulatory agencies as required. Assists in the development of Company and departmental policies and procedures regarding the installation and operation of electric metering equipment. Conducts annual meter inventory audits. Leads regional Meter Assets safety process, following OSHA and Company standards. Ensures compliance with the National Electrical Code and Public Service Commission requirements for electric meters. Leads continuous improvements efforts and encourages a participatory, team-based environment. Effectively manages the financial resources in the regional Metering area of responsibility. Responsible for the purchase of all metering equipment for Meter Shops including material and tools. Reviews employee job performance evaluation and progress reports. Ensures training and development opportunities are available for all employees in the department. Effectively communicates with company management, customers, and employees, both verbally and in writing. Other duties as assigned.
Some standing, walking, climbing, lifting, and working with small hand tools required.
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Must have good planning and organizing skills with above average oral and written communication, conceptual, interpersonal and team building skills. Ability to serve in a leadership role and have an achievement orientation. Should be knowledgeable of electric metering equipment and maintenance with working knowledge of technical issues faced in implementation of wide variety of electric meter projects. Prefer experience with SAP’s Customer Care System (CCS).
Normal office environment with frequent trips to field.
Required Education & Experience:
High school or equivalent required. Five to 10 years of job-related experience or an alternate combination of education and experience which results in equivalent job knowledge required and previous supervisory experience preferred. Excellent working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and Kentucky Public Service Commission requirements that apply to electric metering. Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Must have a Meterman certification with the Kentucky Public Service Commission that certifies candidate is able to test electric meters. Must be a journeyman electric meter technician and must be highly proficient in understanding the technical operating characteristics of AMI meters.
This position is responsible for planning, inventorying, distributing, scheduling, installing and maintaining self-contained and instrument transformer metering, and for performing duties of a working supervisor. Ordering material, meeting with electrical contractors, engineers and customer service representatives.
