LG&E and KU Energy Storeroom Technician in Ghent, Kentucky
Include but not limited to: • Employee will be knowledgeable of and follow all safety rules, procedures and practices; conduct safety observations; and investigate changes to procedures to avoid unsafe practices. • Safely and proficiently unload/load materials from freight carriers or other transport equipment, through use of forklifts, cranes, winch-trucks, etc. • Perform clerical functions required for receiving of material purchased by the station, including entry of receipts into Oracle. • Maintain accurate filing and storage of receiving documents. • Prepare received materials with pertinent information for storage, including application of labels, and packaging. • Communicate material receipts to plant maintenance areas when maintenance work is awaiting the materials. • Assist maintenance and other departments in generating and processing “pick-lists”, including verifying and securing necessary parts/tools/supplies, organizing, and providing to the work location in a timely manner. • Report and assist with correction of incorrect material receipts. • Assist with material shipments from the plant. • Assist with storage and issue of plant materials, tools, and personal safety equipment. • Perform inventory of inventory on hand and reconcile differences using Oracle, barcode systems, or other systems/processes. • Assist maintenance personnel with the return and proper storage of reqpired or repairable materials. • Maintain knowledge and documentation of materials issued and stored. • Perform rigging and transport duties related to material handling. • Check stock levels when issuing, loading, unloading, and receiving materials, and advise management of need to reorder. • Perform general maintenance and housekeeping storeroom functions, such as painting, repairing bins, erecting bins and racks, minor repair of tools & equipment, etc. • Ensure uniform compliance of all company policies, procedures, and uniform work rules. • Employee will keep all equipment, tools, materials, and work areas in a clean and orderly condition. • Employee will perform work in a responsible and cooperative manner to facilitate a positive working environment. • Employee will represent the Company to the community with attention to the highest standards of conduct, appearance and attitude. • Occasional duties include communications with suppliers.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. from the ground to the height of 30 inches and from waist level to chest on a daily basis; Typical equipment/materials that must be lifted includes but is not limited to tools, materials, various bags of chemicals; Able to climb up and down stairs and vertical ladders unassisted on a hourly basis; Perform hand manipulations extended near floor level for extended periods of time on a regular basis
Include but not limited to: • Must meet all general qualifications of employment. • Must be able and willing to comply with all safety rules. • Must be able to safely perform physical requirements of the job. • Must have successfully completed all required testing and training programs promulgated by the company. • Must have demonstrated proficiency in the ability to perform duties associated with the lower classification(s) within the line of progression. • One to three years material handling department experience, or power plant maintenance/operations experience that results in equivalent job knowledge/skills, required. • Physical requirements include rigging and material handling equipment operations, lifting up to 25 pounds repeatedly, walking to distant areas of the plant grounds, climbing, standing for long periods of time. • Occasional overtime required. • Good math and computer skills. • General knowledge of rigging and lifting practices. • Good interpersonal skills.
Industrial warehouse work environment, including heights (ladders, platforms), forklift operation, and uneven work surfaces associated with loading, unloading, storing, and distributing tools and supplies. Routine exposures to temperature extremes and dusts associated with power plant systems and equipment.
