Reference #: 4313047 THE POSITION The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's Bureau of Design and Delivery is seeking a student intern to participate in a variety of transportation design projects.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you will gain knowledge and put into practice engineering principles in the areas of hydraulic design and analysis, roadway construction and maintenance, bridges, flood control structures, and other engineering projects. Your tasks will include supporting engineering studies, creating plans, details, and specifications, and providing design recommendations for technical aspects.

This internship will allow you to develop your technical skills, apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects, and work alongside engineering professionals who are passionate about innovation and excellence.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Compensation is credit based: Less than 90 credits - $20.35 Over 90 credits - $21.22 You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Students who are interested in a PennDOT internship must meet all of the following requirements: Must be a high school graduate or college student enrolled (or intending to enroll) on a full-time or part-time basis in a 2- or 4- year post-secondary education program for the fall semester. Enrolled part or full-time for the next semester by the start of the internship in an applicable major. In good academic standing (as defined by a GPA of 2.0 or higher). Must be at least 18 years of age Special Requirement: Certain positions require a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License. Additional Requirements: You must be able to perform essential job functions. Preferred Majors: Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
