Semester: Fall 2024

Position Summary & Purpose: Develop engineering discipline for product lines by studying customer requirements, and researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Direct and perform the design and development engineering on various size (small to major) research and development projects or sales orders

  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications

  • Conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components and systems

  • Develop and test models of alternative designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification

  • Review new and existing writings of manuals and documentation, adding supplemental materials as required

  • Create clear and accurate wiring diagrams

  • Create accurate bills of materials for new products and features

  • Process machine orders and parts orders to make sure all sold options are correctly configured.

  • Review electrical designs for required compliance with NFPA, NEC, ANSI and other applicable standards

  • Continuously review components pricing, identifying opportunities to replace with lower cost of equal or better quality

  • DFMA

  • Use classroom experience/knowledge and apply it in the industry setting

  • Update PCB designs and drawings

Qualifications:

  • Working toward an Associates or Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or Electro Mechanical Engineering

  • Fully capable of performing all levels of tasks needed to complete a project or sales order, including all aspects of 2D CAD

  • Strong customer orientation

  • Adopt and promote lean practices in all activities, considering the elimination of wasteful resources for any goal other than the creation of value for the end customer

  • Planning ability to think ahead and plan over a two year time span
