Responsibilities

Independence Physician Management (IPM), a subsidiary of UHS, was formed in 2012 as the physician services unit of UHS. IPM develops and manages multi-specialty physician networks and urgent care clinics which align with UHS acute care facilities. It also provides select services for the Behavioral Health division of UHS. Through continuing growth, IPM operates in 11 markets across six states and the District of Columbia. Our leadership team, practitioners, and teams of healthcare professionals are collectively dedicated to improving the health and wellness of people in the communities we serve.

Internship

POSITION OVERVIEW

• Performs support tasks to improve healthcare quality and safety, improve patient care, and engage patients and their families in their healthcare.

• Works on real-time and meaningful projects; develops technical skills; collaborates and networks with various teams; and receives mentorship.

  DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Learns basic functional areas within assigned department

• Participates in key department project work.

• Gains understanding of the UHS business model and how department functions as part of the business

• Participates in department meetings to learn ongoing initiatives

  Qualifications

  REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or a related degree from accredited college or university

• Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office applications ‘

• Healthcare experience preferred

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Strong problem solving and analytical skills

• Desire to learn and share ideas in a collaborative work environment
