OBJECTIVE

Our interns will receive hands-on training and support from their managers and company mentors, will support the day-to-day operations of their divisions, and may have the opportunity to work on various project teams. All summer interns will also participate in a program of events with our entire internship team.

NOTE: both in and out of office work might be required at the Farm Bureau Center/Warehouse in Lansing, MI

RESPONSIBILITIES

Paid internship will involve working on multiple projects within the Promotion & Education, Young Farmer, High School and Collegiate and Ag in the Classroom Program areas as well as other projects within the Center for Education and Leadership Development (CELD), as assigned.

The primary focus of this position will be on Promotion & Education, Young Farmer and High School & Collegiate activities, as well as involvement in overall activities of the CELD including interaction with Michigan Foundation for Agriculture development and the Michigan Ag Council. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: agriculture statistics/fact research, Ag in the Classroom lesson development and updating, graphic design/document layout, newsletter writing, assisting and coordinating events, communicating with volunteer members, tracking publication statistics, orders processing & billing, and working with field staff on outreach programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential Skills:

· Writing and oral communication skills

· Experience with or interest in event planning and coordination

· Organization and ability to multi-task

· Computer skills including extensive knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint

· Research

Preferred Skills:

· Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and InDesign

· Desire to work in agricultural outreach including but not limited to: consumer, youth and volunteers

· Background or career interest in agriculture
