Accounting Analyst I, II, or III
Ensure all accounting and reporting is in compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements and ensures accurate and timely adoption of new regulations.
Ensure on-going compliance with internal controls related to all tasks and work with management and/or internal and external auditors as needed to complete walkthroughs and SOX controls testing during the year.
Ensure all assigned accounts are reconciled timely in compliance with the Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation and Materiality policies and that all reconciling items are investigated and resolved.
Prepare journal entries and/or financial calculations that require general knowledge of accounting principles and their application, ensuring closing deadlines are maintained.
Review and update accounting policies and procedures.
Work with the internal and external auditors on a quarterly, annual and ad hoc basis including preparation of client assistance schedules, preparation of variance analysis schedules and preparation or review of ad hoc requests.
Assist in the preparation of financial and accounting schedules, filings, exhibits, data requests and testimony related to regulatory requirements and proceedings.
Assist in the preparation of the monthly plant report and related cash flow information.
Consult with all areas of the companies related to property accounting and capitalization issues.
Process investment proposals, ensuring that expenditures are consistent with capital policies; assist in depreciation studies.
Assist in PowerPlan system upgrade and testing activities.
Understand the classification of LG&E/KU/FCD/LKS/LKC transactions to ensure proper allocation for accounting purposes, understand asset capitalization process, CWIP, RWIP, depreciation and property ledgers.
Unitize and retire assets in specific functional areas of responsibility ensuring transactions are in compliance with GAAP and company policy.
Primarily sitting with optional standing and walking.
Good interpersonal skills for communicating financial explanations and oral/written information to others, both within and outside the corporation. Ability to use PC and Microsoft Office based applications.

Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a business-related field with an alternate combination of education and experience which results in equivalent job knowledge.
Must have a working knowledge of accounting principles, applications, rules, and regulations, including U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP), SEC requirements, and reporting requirements.
