Power Generation Lab Intern I
Must be knowledgeable of and follow all safety rules, procedures and practices. Keep all equipment, tools, materials and work areas in a clean and orderly condition, reporting to supervision any damaged or defective equipment or conditions which may cause damage or injury. Actively participate and successfully complete assigned training activities and requirements. Perform work in a responsible and cooperative manner to facilitate a positive working environment. Assist in the maintenance of analytical control equipment, including demineralizer, boiler and condensate systems. As instructed, operate chemical treatment equipment, including that associated with both process water and steam generator systems. Assist employees in carrying out work assignments. Keep chemical regenerate tanks and other chemical tanks and/or storage bins at proper operating levels. Assist in the sampling and analysis of the cooling water systems Comply with all safety rules related to the position and plant operations. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. from the ground to the height of 30 inches and from waist level to chest on a daily basis; Typical equipment/materials that must be lifted includes but is not limited to tools, materials, various bags of chemicals; Able to climb up and down stairs and vertical ladders unassisted on an hourly basis; Perform hand manipulations extended near floor level for extended periods of time on a regular basis
Plant environment. Position requires ability to work in adverse climate conditions and physical nature of work may require climbing in and out of mills, boilers and walking on grated sidewalks up to 550 feet in the air.
Required Education & Experience:
Candidate must be currently enrolled in a technical Associates degree program and must take courses in chemistry or a related field. Candidate must maintain 2.5 GPA in the degree program. Candidate must have a basic knowledge of chemistry. Above average interpersonal written/oral communication skills required. Ability to troubleshoot and analyze problems is important.

This position will provide challenging projects, networking opportunities, and a chance to learn from experienced electric utility professionals.
As a Laboratory Intern you will develop skills in laboratory functions while assisting in the tasks of sampling, analysis, and treatments of various station systems.
