In this position…

Plant Vehicle Team (PVT) Engineers are part of Ford Motor Company’s Product Development organization and are co-located in the Vehicle Assembly Plant with the vehicle manufacturing team. The PVT Engineer is the 'first line of defense' with regard to Functional system quality for the products produced at the assembly plant. The PVT Supervisor has several responsibilities associated with analyzing and fixing quality issues on components shipped into the assembly plant, and processes within the Vehicle Assembly Plant and integrated remote build centers.

This position is responsible for UnSE (Underbody Systems Engineering) F2 functions including transmission, driveline, brakes, steering, suspension, frame and IPTSE (Internal Combustion Engine - Propulsion - Thermal Systems Engineering) F4 functions including base engine, cooling system, fuel system, AIS, mounts, exhaust and climate for the Escape and Corsair vehicles lines at Louisville Assembly Plant.

This position is at our LOUISVILLE ASSEMBLY PLANT.

What you'll do…

  1. Quality

  2. Own cascaded Functional Warranty quality objectives for the base organization (R/1000 and CPU)- respond to plant/supplier issues before they leave assembly plants, evaluate chronic and new warranty issues to push for cut off and resolution

  3. Co-Lead theVariability Reduction Team (VRT) meetings at the Plant with the manufacturing co-lead.

  4. Lead ECB Warranty binning and analysis (contact dealers, interface w FCSD), part return reviews

  5. Support quality forums including Functional Quality Reviews (FQR), Director Quality Reviews (DQR), plant quality meetings (PIC, VRT, etc), Vehicle Quality Reviews (VQR) and Quality Days as required.

  6. Prepare function heat maps and action plans to meet targets

  7. Supplier support - timing plans, PPAP review, robustness actions both for Ford and to help reduce QRs . Lead is STA Resident or STA Central Quality (None)

  8. Supplier QOS support – includes regular supplier site visits for key / problem suppliers. Lead is STA Central Quality along with Site STA. (None)

  9. Stop Ship support and prevention - identify issues, coordinate subject matter experts, advise severity and next steps/containment, interface w CCRG. Prepare repair procedures for units contained.

  10. BSAQ lead and Problem Resolution for ECB Warranty (except Supplier Quality)- communication and coordination with VFG/Plant/Others, author projects, manage implementation, calculate impact, manage function warranty forecast

  11. STA support – help review 8Ds on select high impact issues, help author BSAQ projects and close them out, advise and monitor supplier robustness changes. Lead is STA Central Quality

  12. Plant issues – support/ provide IQ direction (what/where to measure, etc), process walk support and advise QOSC/QPIP, ICA implementation until PCA available. PCA lead will be D&R for Design, STA for Supplier Quality and VRT for plant-related issues

  13. Support Plant FTT improvements.

  14. Launch Support

  15. Major launch - Support launch team prior to OKTB + 30 days and transition to lead on issue resolution post OKTB + 30 days

  16. Minor launch – May lead some selected small scale programs/added starters upon agreement with OPD/PVT Leadership (None)

  17. AIMS/DEMS – lead for minor launches, support for major launches and take lead after OKTB

  18. Change Control

  19. Lead in-plant trials for changes and assess impact to quality/production

  20. Lead VRT review and sign-off on supplier requests for component changes (SREA), run trials as required.

  21. TVM support (ECN, trials, issue clean up, PPAP completion) PPAP completion is Site STA. TVM D&R owns the design and must sign off on PPAP with STA.

You'll have...

Minimum

  1. Bachelor's in engineering

  2. 5+ years of experience in PD/Quality/Program

  1. Six Sigma Black Belt preferred

  2. Excellent problem solving skills with solid understanding of problem solving methodologies

  3. Excellent leadership and presentation skills.

  4. Proficient in English
