Workstation System Support

Job Description:

  • Troubleshoots and resolves simple Desktop/Laptop problems

  • Installs/Maintains/Acquires of Desktops/Laptops/Software/Peripherals located throughout the organization.

  • Performs Client LAN/hard disk backups; assists with end user questions and problems.

  • Participates in performance monitoring and tuning of PC Systems under the guidance of more experience peers or supervisor. Receives work direction from supervisor or more experience peers on work priorities and daily assignments.

  • Maintains an adequate spare parts inventory of systems, subsystems, and component parts used in repair work.

  • Effectively communicates with clients, peers and supervision by blending appropriate levels of technical and business detail to ensure issues are thoroughly understood by his/her audience.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, peers, and management.

  • Works in conjunction with Technology Support Services/Managers of Information Technology/IT Development to ensure that client’s problems/changes are completed within current Service Level Agreements.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Effort:

Heavy lifting up to 40 pounds. Lots of walking. Dusty environment possible. Lots of bending, kneeling under desks.

Preferred Qualifications:

CompTIA A+ certification preferred. Continuing education courses/technical seminars helpful. A successful academic or work background indicating a demonstrated ability to absorb information, apply conceptual skills in practical applications, and achieve desired results in a highly technical, operating environment. Incumbent must effectively deal with the rapid technological and business change while maintaining enthusiasm and displaying sound judgment and common sense.

Work Conditions:

Normal office environment with some visits to fields locations.

Occasional on-call duty.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science or an alternate combination of education and experience which results in the equivalent job knowledge and skills. Possesses zero or more years of technical PC support experience.

Under close supervision, responsible for simple engineering and/or analytical activities associated with one or more technical areas within the Desktop Operations area. (Such as, but not limited to, desktop/laptop image creation, implementation, troubleshooting, maintenance and/or client support).

This position will be filled at the level appropriate given the successful candidate's education and experience.
