CITY OF MARSHFIELD Civil Engineer in MARSHFIELD, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: The City of Marshfield is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our team. The Civil Engineer I designs, surveys, stakes and performs construction inspection for a variety of construction projects undertaken by the City. Work includes street and utility projects along with storm water management projects. Position works closely with Engineering Division staff, contractors and the Street Division during construction, serving as the on-site engineer or resident project representative. Requires strong interpersonal skills, customer service mentality, and problem-solving ability utilized for both internal and external customers. A Civil Engineer II is an advanced professional engineering position involving major responsibility for the design and construction of public works projects, including street, sanitary sewer, storm sewer and drainage improvements. With the Street Division, the Civil Engineer will work closely with contractors and serve as an on-site engineer. Requires strong interpersonal skills, customer service mentality, and problem-solving ability utilized for both internal and external customers. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR CIVIL ENGINEER I 1. Performs design and preparation of plans, profiles, and cross-sections for new and/or reconstruction of streets, street improvements, sanitary sewers, watermain and storm sewers. 2. Designs culvert sizes, ditch grades, driveway grades, and sidewalk grades for the public. 3. Calculates quantity and cost estimates of proposed projects. Prepares special assessment estimates. Assists in determining if any special provisions are required for construction projects. 4. Serves as a member of a surveying team conducting various types of surveys to gather information for proposed public works projects. 5. Coordinates construction staking for streets, sanitary and storm sewers and water main projects. 6. Inspects construction projects to verify compliance with plans and specifications. 7. Reviews and meets ongoing competency requirements of the role to maintain the skills, knowledge and abilities to perform, within scope, role specific functions. 8. Regular attendance is required in order to carry out the essential functions of the position. ADDITIONAL DUTIES 1.
