We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems. Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). This position will be located at Sierra Lobo in Milan, OH. Responsibilities FUNCTION OF POSITION Apply creative analytical and practical Electrical Engineering knowledge (consistent with a pre-graduate level of skill) to tasks of varying complexity within the Aerospace and Defense Industry. Use a self-sufficient and hands-on approach to complete assigned tasks. Interface with technical and non-technical personnel within the organization. Seek and obtain experience in multiple aspects of the engineering profession. DURATION AND REPETITION Candidates must have a minimum of three (3) months availability for an initial Co-Op work session beginning in Summer 2024. Upon completion of a successful first session, SLI intends to offer additional Co-Op sessions (or part-time employment) until graduation as business conditions permit. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Support Engineering and Technical Staff in the performance of their day-to-day tasks and projects. The nature of these tasks will vary widely. Perform non-technical tasks on as-needed (but limited) basis to support incidental business needs. Examples may include clerical, administrative or similar work. Use SLI AS9100 and ISO-9001 business processes as required in the performance of daily duties. The Co-Op student will be assigned to a supervisor who will provide a performance evaluation at the completion of the work session. This supervisor will be their point-of-contact on a daily basis, and will determine all task assignments. NATURE OF POSITION CHALLENGES There is not a specific set of tasks assigned to this position. The selected candidate may be requested to identify and pursue opportunities to contribute to overall company success. There is a minimal amount of repetitive work associated with this position; candidates should be willing and able to face new challenges on a regular basis. The student in this position will be required to adapt to changing business conditions. Task assignments may change on a frequent basis. The student must be able to successfully function in both solo and team environments. Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills and an understanding of behavioural expectations within a professional environment are expected outcomes of this work experience. Unusual and extended hours may be occasionally required to meet deadlines. SUPERVISOR GUIDANCE Reports to an assigned supervisor, but for the most part works under the general guidance of multiple members of the Engineering Staff. Must be capable of working with minimal supervision at times. Must exhibit sufficient self-discipline to complete assigned tasks on-time. May be asked to identify or propose potential tasks particularly relevant to their career interests. SUPERVISION OF OTHERS This position will have no supervisory responsibilities.
