IT Systems Engineer-CIP Operations

Job Description:

  • Troubleshoots and resolves moderately complex infrastructure hardware and software problems for multi-user computer platforms. Participates in problem resolution activities and resolves moderately complex technology issues.

  • Installs and maintains infrastructure hardware and software. Implements standard practices for support and maintenance activities.

  • Participates in performance monitoring, tuning, availability, and capacity planning of multi-user computer platforms.

  • Participates in the engineering, design, and project management of multi-user computer platforms. Develops and maintains diagrams documenting systems.

  • Write and maintain custom scripts to automate tasks using PERL, PowerShell, VB, etc.

  • Provide subject matter expertise for software/applications used to support and maintain compliance of the Energy Management System (SIEM, Backup Software, Virtualization Platforms, Configuration Management, VSANs, Software Patching Solutions, etc.)

  • Participates in technology evaluation and selection processes, ensuring compatibility between client requirements and technical performance. Documents analysis and recommendations. Balances technology integration alternatives and recommends action with consideration to both technical efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Effectively communicates with clients, peers and management by blending appropriate levels of technical and business detail to ensure issues are thoroughly understood by his/her audience. Develops and maintains relationships with clients, peers, vendors and management.

  • Works in conjunction with IT Security to ensure that company security is not compromised. Supports NERC-CIP compliance and ensures that electronic and physical security policies are followed.

  • Participates in development of satisfactory backup and restore practices as well as disaster recovery planning and testing.

  • Participates in establishing processes and procedures that improve efficiency and support compliance with federal and regulatory requirements.

  • All other duties and projects as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

Technical support and multi-user computing platform experience preferred. Continuing education courses/technical seminars.

Possesses moderate knowledge of various technologies and demonstrates the ability to leverage and appropriately integrate those technologies.

A successful academic and work background indicating a demonstrated ability to absorb information, apply conceptual skills in practical applications, achieve desired results in a highly technical, operating environment. Incumbent must effectively deal with the rapid technological and business change while maintaining enthusiasm and displaying sound judgment.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or an alternate combination of education and experience which results in the equivalent job knowledge and skills. Three or more years of technical support and multi-user computing platform experience.

Job level and title will be determined based upon the successful candidate’s education and experience.
