The Team: An internship at Oracle Labs will give you an opportunity to work on complex software research and engineering problems in different areas like software composition analysis, runtime application self-protection, vulnerability detection and remediation, cloud security, supply chain security etc. You shall be applying skills and techniques in machine learning, program analysis, taint analysis, fuzzing, data engineering and cloud development etc. during the course of the internship. You will be working alongside engineers and researchers at Oracle Labs to develop software that advances the state of the art in the above-mentioned areas. You will also have the opportunity to tailor the project to your own experience. This is a paid position, remunerated in accordance with industry standards.

What You’ll Do:

  • Work with the project lead and the team to develop innovative and robust software solutions to complex engineering and/or research problems

  • Follow software development processes and engineering best practices

  • Apply Computer Science knowledge to real world problems

  • Analyze problem definitions and investigate and evaluate different software solution approaches in terms of functional completeness, extensibility, scalability and performance

  • Develop software prototypes as required, for proof of concept on the solution approaches

  • Present solution proposals to your project team and refine the solution proposals based on feedback

  • Design, implement, test and evolve the software solutions based on selected approach

  • Deliver end of project presentation to a wider audience at Oracle Labs

What You’ll Bring (Objective Minimum Qualifications):

To be considered for a Research Assistant Intern position in the Corporate Architecture organization, you must possess the Objective Minimum Qualifications (OMQs) below. Please ensure that your application clearly indicates that you meet these OMQs, either on your resume and/or by uploading additional documents such as a transcript.

  • Currently enrolled in 3 rd or 4 th year of a Bachelor’s Degree, a Master’s degree program, or PhD degree program in Computer Science, or an equivalent science/engineering field during the 2024-2025 school year.

  • Are proficient (i.e., able to complete coding projects with minimal assistance) in at least two of the following programming languages:

  • C/C++ Java

  • Python

  • Javascript

  • Node.js or similar

  • Have completed coursework, projects, internships, and or research in at least three of the following areas:

  • Algorithms and Data structures (essential)

  • Software tools development

  • Web application development

  • Cloud development

  • Linux environments

  • Security

  • Distributed systems

  • Compilers

  • Program Analysis techniques

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote environment

  • Ability to read and write English fluently.

  • Must be enrolled in a university prior to and following internship completion

  • Able to obtain work authorization in Canada in 2024.
