Te Whiwhinga a mahi | The opportunity

We are seeking a Customer Support Engineer to join our P-8A New Zealand Team. You would be the primary on-site Point of Contact (PoC), coordinating with, and reporting to the P-8 RNZAF Engineering Manager based in Australia.

This role would be based at RNZAF Base Ohakea, located in the central North Island of New Zealand, embedded in the P-8A Capability Support Team (CST) of the Royal New Zealand Air Force.

The Customer Support Engineer will be part of a growing Boeing New Zealand (BNZ) team, who in collaboration with a small team of engineers and technical officers from Boeing Defence Australia (BDA), support the sustainment of a fleet of four P-8A Poseidon aircraft. The Customer Support Engineers main responsibilities will include:

  • Work alongside the CST and help to communicate and prioritise tasking for the BDA engineering team.

  • Integrate with the customer to enable timely access to Technical Information (TI) and support data.

  • Liaise with the Data Manager for the reliable transfer of data to the Boeing Enterprise Network (BEN).

  • Identify areas of improvement with regard to the integration of the teams.

  • Support the customer with technical investigations where required.

  • Support the Aircraft Structural Integrity (ASI) team in the development, implementation and maintenance of a system for the management of elements of the ASI for the aircraft.

  • Support the Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) team in identifying opportunities to improve the reliability of the aircraft.

  • Support the on-going development of the Engineering Services Plan (ESP), Technical Services Manual (TSM) and Design Services Manual (DSM) specific to the New Zealand P-8A.

  • Supporting engineering performance reviews where required.

  • Identifying program risk and supporting risk mitigation activities.

Experience/Qualifications

To be successful in this role, ideally you will have a Bachelor Degree in Engineering and 5+ years’ experience working within a Military Air Operator (MAO) Engineering Management System (EMS), and have familiarity with fixed wing aircraft sustainment and Continuing Airworthiness Management (CAM). Equivalent combinations of technical education and experience will also be considered. The role also includes some Avionics and Life-Support Systems support so knowledge in these areas would be beneficial.
