Class Summary

Job Description

This position is in the Business Services Division and c oordinates and processes a variety of purchasing requests, payment requests, maintenance agreements, invoices, accounts receivables, payroll, and/or other related documents as well as reconciling financial reports. Personnel in this position will serve as a liaison to other county departments, assist with inquiries from employees, vendors, and/or other interested parties regarding payment and/or other related information and performs a variety of clerical and/ or receptionist functions, which may include typing, answering phones, filing, copying, faxing, opening and distributing mail, and/or performing other related activities.

Essential Duties

  • Receives, codes, processes, and maintains a variety of purchasing requests, payment requests, maintenance agreements, invoices, accounts receivables, and/or other related documents. Reconciles financial reports against records.

  • Files and maintains financial records, logs, and forms.

  • Data enters information contained on purchase requests, journal vouchers, capital service requests, work orders, invoices, and/or other related financial documents.

  • Performs a variety of clerical and/ or receptionist functions, which may include: typing, answering phones, filing, copying, faxing, opening and distributing mail, and/or performing other related activities.

  • Responds to inquiries from employees, vendors, and/or other interested parties regarding payment, purchase status, and/or other related information.

  • Prepares a variety of reports related to financial activities.

  • Gathers data and information in support of budgetary preparation activities.

  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Public Speaking Duties

  • Speak with customers and vendors in-person and via the phone

  • Communicate with management team during section meetings

Other Job Requirements/Information

  • This position requires a public safety background is required to include motor vehicle & criminal histories, credit check, and fingerprinting.

Grade

The grade for this position is B221.

Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.

  • Three years bookkeeping, accounts payable and/or accounts receivable experience

  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above

Department of Fire

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services provides emergency medical services and fire protection to the citizens of Gwinnett County. The Department's mission is to save lives and protect property and we have a prestigious history of doing this with many significant accomplishments. As a valued member of our team, you will perform emergency medical treatment, life rescue and fire suppression, and safety education to the public. Personnel are assigned to work on rotating 24-hour shifts: 24 hours on/48 hours off, including weekends and holidays.
